Job Summary

The Facilities Support Coordinator's responsible for managing and maintaining the accountability, availability, and organization of tools, equipment, and inventory or supplies to support daily operations. This role includes maintaining accurate inventory records, maintaining and keeping organized Facilities Operations plan room, tracking stock levels, conducting regular audits and cycle counts, receiving and inspecting shipments, and ensuring that adequate inventory is available to meet operational needs. This position issues tools and equipment to employees, maintains sign‑in and sign‑out records, tracks tool assignments, and ensures the timely return of all issued items. They are also responsible for investigating inventory discrepancies, minimizing tool loss, and maintaining accountability for company assets. The Inventory Control Specialist plays an important role in supporting maintenance and operational teams by ensuring that necessary tools, equipment, and materials are available when needed. They maintain compliance with organizational safety policies, equipment certification requirements, and applicable regulations while generating reports related to inventory usage, asset accountability, and stock levels.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Tool Management and Distribution

Maintain, organize, and secure all shared tools used across Augusta University.

Manage tool checkout and return processes to ensure availability and accountability.

Perform routine inspections to verify tool condition, safety, and readiness for use.

Coordinate repairs or replacements for damaged or worn‑out tools.

Inventory Control and Procurement

Maintain accurate inventory records for all tools, equipment, and consumable supplies.

Forecast supply needs and reorder materials to prevent shortages.

Receive, track, and distribute supplies to Facilities Operations Department.

Implement inventory‑management systems to improve tracking and reduce loss.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

Manage and maintain portable air conditioners, including deployment, tracking, and upkeep.

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on AC units, fans, pumps, motors, wet vacuums, and

similar equipment.

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and coordinate external services when needed.

Maintain a preventive‑maintenance schedule for all assignable equipment.

Training and Safety Oversight

Estimates materials needed and records time and material expended on each work order. Prepares

and submits material requisitions required to complete assigned tasks.

Reads, interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, to determine appropriate job requirements

and procedures.

Perform shutdowns of assigned systems as required for maintenance or for project support. This

includes chillers, boilers, chilled water systems, heating water systems, steam systems, etc.

Coordinates safety training and certification for all assignable equipment.

Print Room Operations

Oversee the print room, including organization, cleanliness, and equipment readiness.

Maintain drawing inventory and ensure proper storage, labeling, and accessibility.

Integrate as‑built drawings into the campus documentation system.

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot plotters, printers, and large‑format projection equipment.

Assist with preventive maintenance record keeping

Performs Related Work as Required

Employees will follow all Augusta University and Facilities Operations policies and procedures.

Provide technical support to shop staff and project teams as needed.

Assist with equipment setup for special projects or temporary workspaces.

Manage support documentation, labeling, and record‑keeping for tools, equipment, and drawings.

Work with scheduled contractors to complete projects and report to facilities operations leadership once project is complete and if any future work needs to be completed.

Respond to requests received from facilities operations work management team.

Perform any other duties as assigned to by supervisor or Augusta University leadership

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High School diploma or GED from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization and 3 years of relevant experience

Other Required Qualifications

Current valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in related field

Three or more years of applicable experience in inventory management

Planning and Inventory Management Certification

Lean Six Sigma Certification

EPA Certification

Experience with pallet jacks

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

Must have general mechanical aptitude and be able to safely and effectively operate hand tools, physically enter and work inside of small confined spaces, climb ladders and work at various heights. This position requires a moderate amount of physical exertion daily, that includes walking, lifting heavy objects up to (75lbs), kneeling, and crawling. Must be proficient in the use of the Metasys facility management system.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Pay Band: 9

Salary : $23.46/hourly

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint) of the position
