Job summary

GP&C in Houston is seeking a diligent Facilities Maintenance Assistant to perform daily drain checks, manage waste, and uphold clean, safe production areas. You will operate equipment, support janitorial staff, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, the ability to multitask, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily checks on drains to ensure no environmental discharges.
  • Maintains facility waste cans and waste hoppers across production areas to prevent buildup.
  • Ensures waste hoppers are emptied regularly.
  • Walks facility grounds to pick up and dispose of trash.
  • Disposes of hardened resin drums daily and operates drum crusher.
  • Maintains clear fire lanes around the facility.
  • Blows down walkways and drives to keep areas clean.
  • Uses a magnet to remove nails and screws to prevent tire damage.
  • Maintains Acetone program including dispensing, disposal, storage, and logs.
  • Assists janitorial staff in cleaning breakrooms after breaks and lunches.
  • Removes MRB scraps before daily meeting.
  • Dumps used coolant drums and handles coolant filtering/recycling.
  • Bails cardboard and performs floor stripping/waxing.
  • Mops and sweeps as directed and performs additional tasks as assigned.

Job description

  • Reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor
  • Performs daily checks on all drains to ensure no environmental discharges
  • Maintains facility waste cans including those located throughout the production areas
  • Ensures all waste hoppers are emptied on a regular basis to prevent buildup of waste
  • Walks the facility grounds to ensure all trash is picked up and disposed of
  • Disposes of hardened resin drums daily
  • Operates drum crusher to help minimize buildup of drums daily
  • Responsible for maintaining clear fire lanes around the facility
  • Blows down the walkways and drives to ensure a clean area
  • Utilizes magnet to ensure that all potential nails and screws are removed to prevent tire damage
  • Maintains Acetone program including dispensing, disposal, storage, and maintains usage logs
  • Responsible for helping janitorial staff clean breakroom after break and lunch
  • Removes MRB scraps before daily meeting
  • Responsible for the dumping of used coolant drums
  • Responsible for the coolant filtering and recycling process
  • Responsible for bailing all cardboard
  • Stripping and waxing floors
  • Mopping and sweeping as directed
  • Additional task as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:
  • High School Diploma (GED)
