Job summary

Starlight Theatre Association in Kansas City, MO seeks a Facilities Supervisor to oversee daily operations and maintenance of the venue, indoors and outdoors, ensuring safety, cleanliness and readiness for 100+ events annually.

You will supervise maintenance, custodial and seasonal teams, coordinate inspections and contractors, manage supplies, and uphold OSHA policies while handling snow removal and venue asset upkeep; a 40+ hour week with weather-dependent shifts.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in facilities/operations management (3–5 years).
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventative, routine, and unscheduled maintenance.
• Manage all event changeovers, set-ups, and other event-based needs.
• Coordinate and supervise outside contractors.
• Order and document supplies, material and equipment procurement.
• Maintain the maintenance shop and storage areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
• Manage snow removal within the venue boundaries.
• Adhere to safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

• Base Pay $48,300.00 - $55,545.00 / Year

Description

Starlight is Kansas City’s oldest and largest outdoor performing arts venue, stewarding a $20M+ annual budget and a year-round staff of 45+ full-time employees alongside hundreds of seasonal team members and volunteers. As a civic treasure and cultural destination, Starlight presents Broadway musical, concerts, special events and community programming that collectively reach hundreds of thousands of guests each year through approximately 100 events annually.

Role purpose:

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supporting all physical operations and maintenance of the venue, ensuring consistent functionality and cleanliness for daily and event-based operations.

• Supervise full-time maintenance, custodial and seasonal facilities teams.
• Assist in interviewing, hiring, training and conducting performance evaluations.
• Oversee preventative, routine, and unscheduled maintenance.
• Manage all event changeovers, set-ups, and other event-based needs.
• Adhere to standard procedures for maintaining the facility and upkeep of venue and all associated assets.
• Manage all daily venue and event housekeeping.
• Coordinate and/or conduct all facility inspections, waste and recycling collection, separation, and removal.
• Coordinate and supervise outside contractors.
• Order and document supplies, material and equipment procurement.
• Adhere to all organizational safety policies and procedures while performing within OSHA guidelines.
• Manage the automated controls and work orders systems
• Maintain the maintenance shop and storage areas in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure fashion.
• Manages overall snow removal within the boundaries of the venue.

This role is an indoor and outdoor job with a varying workweek schedule of 40+ hours per week, but these hours may vary depending on weather, events, holidays, and other factors.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of management principles and best practices.
• Exhibit excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of the operation of equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, tools, fire hydrants, power washers, fountains, plumbing, electrical, building automated controls, floor scrubbers, etc.
• Awareness of safety/risk management procedures.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:

• BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience of 3 - 5 years of facility/operations management.
• Knowledge of and ability to work on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

Other Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to crawl, crouch, balance, stoop, kneel, or stand for long periods.
• Ability to use ladders up to 30 ft. and work comfortably at heights exceeding 25 ft.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
