Job summary

St. Davids South Austin Medical Center is seeking a Facilities Supervisor to manage the hospital's mechanical and building systems, supervise maintenance staff, and coordinate projects to ensure on-time, compliant execution.

The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with department heads, architects, and external contractors to deliver facilities improvements while minimizing disruption to patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school education is required.
• Five years of experience in a maintenance or construction field.
• Two years supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and life safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the maintenance workforce and assign tasks.
• Coordinate and monitor ongoing projects to ensure efficiency.
• Maintain an effective preventive maintenance program and update it regularly.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, life safety codes, ADA regulations, and related standards.
• Obtain outside bids, issue purchase orders, and track project invoices.
• Oversee contractors and temporary workers to meet deadlines with minimal disruption.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation of all mechanical and building systems of the hospital.

• Supervise the activities of the maintenance work force.
• Assign tasks to appropriate personnel.
• Coordinate and monitor ongoing projects to ensure the personnel are working effectively.
• Advise, encourage and counsel personnel as needed to maximize their performance.
• Maintain an effective preventive maintenance program.
• Update the preventive maintenance program on a regular basis to ensure that new equipment is covered.
• See that all preventive maintenance tasks are completed according to schedule.
• Inspect completed preventive maintenance tasks to ensure that they are properly executed.
• Implement building and mechanical projects in house.
• Meet with department heads, architects, engineers and consultants to design, plan, and coordinate projects.
• Estimate time and material of projects and cost estimates.
• Ensure project maintain building codes, life safety codes, proper construction methods, ADA regulations, and all other applicable regulations.
• Obtain outside bids, issue purchase orders, verify invoices, and maintain documentation of all projects.
• Oversee temporary workers, electricians, plumbers, mechanical, communication, and outside contractors on projects.
• Establish, coordinate, and monitor projects to minimize inconvenience to doctors, staff, patients, and visitors and to meet scheduled deadlines.
• Collaborate with contractors and consultants in completing projects outside the scope of Plant Operations.
• Information needed by contractors and consultants is provided accurately and promptly.
• Work with regulator agencies to keep the hospital in compliance with codes.

EDUCATION:

• High school education or equivalent required.

• Two years supervisory experience preferred.
