Job summary

YMCA of the Boulder Valley seeks a Facilities Superintendent to oversee maintenance, preventative programs, and capital projects for all YMCA facilities and vehicles in Colorado. You will manage budgets, coordinate with contractors, supervise staff and volunteers, ensure regulatory compliance, and support safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• College degree or 1–2 years related experience with additional trainings/certifications.
• Current/valid driver’s license and clean MVR as per YMCA requirements.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications within 30 days of employment.
• Strong communication and human relations skills.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry and maintenance.
• Familiarity with personal computers is helpful.
• Preferred CPO certification for pool operations.

Responsibilities

• Provides coordination of facility maintenance including preventative maintenance planning.
• Ensures proper operation of all mechanical systems and completes repairs timely.
• Oversees all contractors working in facilities and grounds.
• Develops budgets for preventative and annual maintenance and monitors expenditures.
• Recruits, hires, trains, and directs staff and volunteers; evaluates performance.
• Manages facility safety, compliance with regulations, and annual capital planning.
• Participates in fundraising and supports management on maintenance issues.
• Maintains and operates vehicles and other equipment per YMCA policies.
• Performs Manager on Duty shifts when required and other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Facilities Superintendent directs the maintenance and improvement operations of YMCA facilities and vehicles, including preventative maintenance and related budgets.Responsibilities:Provides overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developingpreventative maintenance.Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids and recommend selection of contractors.Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.Develops budgets supporting the preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitors expenditures against budget.Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.Participates with other members of management in the YMCA’s fundraising campaign.Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.Updates facility plans periodically.
