Job summary

Shepherd University Facilities Management is seeking a dependable Federal Work Study student to assist with a variety of projects and daily departmental needs on campus in Shepherdstown, WV.

This on-site position offers hands-on experience, exposure to multiple campus spaces, and the chance to support facilities staff on diverse tasks while developing organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Be dependable and report to scheduled shifts on time.
• Be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks independently.
• Be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Be willing to perform a variety of tasks that may change from day to day.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, particularly when completing inventories or recording information.

• No previous Facilities experience is required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Walk through campus buildings to assist with inventories and locate equipment like fire extinguishers.
• Record inventory information accurately on forms, spreadsheets, or electronic devices.
• Assist with organizing, labeling, and maintaining Facilities records and materials.
• Carry and relocate building plans, drawings, files, and supplies between campus locations.
• Assist Facilities staff with special projects.
• Perform basic organizational and cleanup tasks related to departmental projects.
• Deliver or pick up materials at various campus buildings and offices.
• Complete other Facilities-related duties as assigned.

Shepherd University Facilities Management is seeking a dependable and self-motivated Federal Work Study student to assist with a variety of projects and daily departmental needs.

This is an active, hands-on position with duties that may vary from day to day. The student should be comfortable working independently after receiving instructions and willing to assist Facilities staff with projects throughout campus.

This position is a good opportunity for a student who enjoys variety, staying active, and seeing different areas of the university while gaining practical workplace experience.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Walking through campus buildings to assist with inventories, such as documenting and locating fire extinguishers and other building equipment.
• Recording inventory information accurately on provided forms, spreadsheets, or electronic devices.
• Assisting with organizing, labeling, and maintaining Facilities records and materials.
• Carrying and relocating building plans, drawings, files, supplies, and other departmental materials between campus locations and storage areas.
• Assisting Facilities staff with special projects.
• Performing basic organizational and cleanup tasks related to departmental projects.
• Delivering or picking up materials at various campus buildings and offices.
• Completing other Facilities-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This is an active position. Students must be able to:

• Walk throughout campus and inside multiple campus buildings for extended periods.
• Regularly stand, bend, reach, and move while completing assigned tasks.
• Carry boxes, building plans, supplies, and other materials.
• Safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds independently.
• Perform duties in a variety of campus locations, including offices, academic buildings, storage areas, and Facilities spaces.
