Job summary

YMCA of Catawba Valley in Conover, NC seeks a part-time Facilities Specialist 2 to perform facility inspections, preventive maintenance, and routine repairs to support a safe, clean, and functional environment.

Under the direction of the Association Director of Facilities, you will complete assigned tasks and maintenance needs, respond to member inquiries, and assist approved vendors while ensuring safety and accessibility standards are observed. CPR/First Aid certifications are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, building repairs, or a related trade.
• Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with safety standards and compliance (OSHA, ADA).
• Ability to maintain work order records and track supplies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPR/First Aid certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned preventive maintenance, routine repair and janitorial tasks during part-time hours.
• Provide excellent customer service; respond to member inquiries and provide Branch information.
• Perform maintenance and repairs to support facility safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment; address hazards and report needs.
• Document inspections, repairs, and work orders; confirm priorities with supervisor.
• Assist approved vendors with facility access and coordinate repairs.
• Track supplies and request approvals for purchases and outside services.
• Follow safety procedures and report concerns related to accessibility, workplace, and fire safety.
• Communicate maintenance tasks affecting programs to leadership.
• Address urgent maintenance needs during scheduled hours and notify leadership of issues requiring support.
• Report equipment condition and recurring repair needs to supervisor.
• Support Association wide maintenance projects as needed.
