Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a facilities role based at our Greenfield, IN site. The candidate will coordinate and perform diverse facilities and site services tasks, including maintenance, shipping/receiving support, and equipment coordination. This is an onsite role requiring strong organizational and technical skills.

The position emphasizes safety, QA documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to support a fast-paced environment and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational certification in facilities management preferred.
• Strong computer skills with MS Office; ability to manage documentation and records.
• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform facilities support services including building access, mail distribution, and move coordination.
• Perform advanced or specialized building/equipment maintenance as needed.
• Complete work orders, scheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
• Ensure QA requirements and Change Control processes are documented and followed.
• Respond to facility-related emergencies and coordinate service delivery improvements.
• Mentor department staff or contractors as needed.

Discover Impactful Work:

Provides lead site support through the coordination and performance of diverse activities related to laboratory and site services, building or equipment maintenance, shipping and receiving supply chain functions, and/or project development as assigned.

A Day in the Life:

• Coordinates and performs multiple and at times complex facilities support services which may include building security issues and access system maintenance, shipping and receiving, distribution of mail to employees, furniture and equipment moves, and the coordination of transportation services.

• May perform advanced or specialized building or equipment maintenance

• tasks including the completion of work orders, scheduled maintenance,

• preventative maintenance, and repairs.

• Ensures key roles in facilities are supported in an accountable and professional manner.

• Assigns and oversees day-to-day activities of facility support staff. Issues schedules, delegates, reviews and checks work.

• Establishes and implements function processes.

• Makes recommendations and may be responsible for execution of service delivery and process improvement.

• Coordinates documentation to comply with Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and Change Control processes.

• Responds to facility-related emergencies, as assigned.

• May cross-train or mentor department staff or contractors.

Keys to Success:

• High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

• Technical positions may require a certificate

• Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 6 years).

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite

• Basic understanding of building systems (mechanical, electrical, security, etc.)

• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical and/or light general construction may be required

• Ability to create organizational consistency in processes, e.g. record keeping, document forwarding and SOP requirements
