Hourly rate for Part-Time Facilities Service Worker: $20.16/hour

Summary

The Facilities Services Worker is responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior areas of Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre in a safe, sanitized, and well-stocked condition. They will also maintain the office areas at the San Diego Theatres Corporate offices located in the City Center Building. Service Workers assist with setting up equipment and furniture to support and enhance organizational activities and events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Maintain a safe work environment for employees and guests.
  2. Keep restrooms, lobbies, seating areas, backstage dressing and support areas, and exterior entrances clean and sanitized, using techniques such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and wiping surfaces.
  3. Ensure all restrooms are sanitary and well-stocked with paper products.
  4. Clean and maintain all windows and glass in the building, excluding the Grand Salon chandelier and exterior windows above the lobby.
  5. Assist with stocking, organizing, and cleaning janitorial closets. Maintain proper care of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
  6. Empty trash, recycle, and garbage containers, disposing of items in proper waste dumpsters and compactors.
  7. Move, set up, and restore equipment and furniture, such as tables, chairs, and pipe and drape, according to event needs.
  8. Assist with customer service by answering guest questions regarding the facility.
  9. Report any equipment, fixture, or area needing repair or maintenance to a supervisor and assist in preparing work orders.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

  3. High ethics, honesty, and integrity, especially regarding professional behavior and confidentiality.
  4. Ability to work independently and complete tasks timely.
  5. Proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  6. Ability to read directions, plans, and maps for venue setups.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
  1. Previous housekeeping or custodial maintenance experience required.
  2. GED or High School diploma required.
Other Skills and Abilities
  1. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  2. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Housekeeping training certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to speak and hear, climb stairs, descend/ascend ramps, stand for long periods, work in noisy or dim environments, and lift up to 80 lbs with assistance. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Exposure to fumes, chemicals, wet conditions, moving mechanical parts, low light, outdoor weather, and loud noise is possible. Accommodations can be made for disabilities.

Mandatory: Workplace Harassment Awareness, New Employee Orientation. Optional: CPR/AED, Job Safety Training.
