Job summary

Great Lakes Science Center is seeking a Facilities and Security Officer to ensure safety for guests, staff, and vendors. The role includes patrolling the building and Steamship William G. Mather Museum during seasons, coordinating opening/closing, and assisting with event setups and exhibits.

Candidates must be prepared for early mornings, weekends, and holiday coverage, with EMT/First Aid readiness and strong incident response skills. This is a full-time, nonexempt position at GLSC.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED & First Aid certification is expected or pursued
• Ability to patrol GLSC property and respond to security calls
• Open/close building or Steamship during public hours or events

Responsibilities

• Operate life safety devices as trained
• Regularly patrol interior and exterior areas
• Respond to security and service requests, control access
• Set up and strike chairs/tables for events and internal setups
• Assist facilities during shipments, events, and exhibits
• Complete security reports and documentation
• Assist with emergency evacuations with the F&S team
