Job summary

Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge in Minneapolis is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and general facility support. This role keeps our properties safe, functional, clean, and ready for service, working as an individual contributor within a values-driven organization.

You will follow safety procedures, review work orders, and maintain records while operating in a treatment-program environment with compassionate interaction and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Work experience in general maintenance, construction, building operations, or related field with exposure to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds care.
• Compassion for individuals facing life-controlling challenges such as mental health issues and addiction.
• Demonstrate MnTC's mission, Culture of Honor, core values, and Putting Honor in Action through daily interactions.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read work orders, safety information, equipment instructions, basic plans, and product labels.
• Ability to organize work, manage deadlines, communicate barriers, and follow assignments through completion.
• Basic computer or mobile-device skills to document work orders, time, inspections, and materials.
• Professional communication and the ability to work respectfully in a treatment-program environment.
• At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
• Must meet Minnesota Statutes 245G.11 staff requirements.
• Must have a valid driver's license, driving record and insurability as required by policy.
• Must complete and maintain required training and DHS background checks before direct care or client services.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned work orders for routine building, grounds, equipment, and vehicle maintenance.
• Review priorities with the supervisor, meet deadlines, and report delays due to materials, access, safety, or constraints.
• Inspect facilities, housing, grounds, tools, and equipment; report hazards and code concerns.
• Safely use and secure tools, equipment, keys, vehicles, parts, and supplies; keep areas orderly and secure.
• Maintain records of work, inspections, time, materials, and purchases; follow procedures.
• Follow OSHA requirements and safety procedures; coordinate access for contractors as directed.
• Communicate respectfully and protect client and employee privacy; follow site protocols in occupied areas.
• Provide task-specific instructions to authorized helpers when assigned; do not supervise or authorize major expenditures.
