Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge in Minneapolis is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician. This role performs preventive maintenance, repairs, and facility support to keep properties safe and ready for service.

Job Summary

Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing assigned preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and facility support work to help keep Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge properties safe, functional, clean, and ready for service. This is an individual contributor position.The technician does not hire, discipline, evaluate, schedule, or otherwise supervise employees or clients.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential functions include the following:

• Complete assigned work orders for routine building, grounds, equipment, and vehicle maintenance. Work may include preventive maintenance, inspections, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and HVAC support, unit turnovers, seasonal work, moves, and deliveries within the technician’s training and authorization.
• Review priorities with the supervisor, meet assigned deadlines, and report delays caused by materials, access, approvals, safety concerns, or technical limitations.
• Inspect facilities, housing, grounds, tools, and equipment. Correct conditions within assigned authority. Promptly report hazards, damage, unsafe equipment, code concerns, injuries, near misses, and work requiring a permit, licensed trade, specialized equipment, or contractor.
• Safely use and secure assigned tools, equipment, keys, vehicles, parts, and supplies. Keep work areas orderly and secure.
• Maintain accurate records of work, inspections, time, materials, purchases, and unresolved conditions. Follow purchasing, inventory, vehicle-use, key-control, and documentation procedures.
• Follow OSHA requirements, manufacturer instructions, applicable codes, licensing standards, and organizational safety procedures. Use required personal protective equipment and approved practices for ladder safety, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and infection control. Coordinate access for approved contractors and vendors as directed. Obtain supervisor approval before making purchases or commitments beyond assigned authority.
• Communicate respectfully, protect client and employee privacy, and follow site protocols when entering occupied or restricted areas.

• When assigned, provide task-specific instructions to an authorized helper. Do not supervise employees or clients, provide treatment direction, impose consequences, authorize contracts, or independently approve major expenses, reconstruction, or permit work.

Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

• Work experience in general maintenance, construction, building operations, or a related field, with exposure to common facility systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds care.
• Comfort and compassion in working with individuals facing life-controlling challenges, such as mental health issues and addiction.

• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment appropriate to assigned duties.
• Ability to read work orders, safety information, equipment instructions, basic plans, and product labels.
• Ability to organize work, manage competing deadlines, communicate barriers, and follow assignments through completion.
• Basic computer or mobile-device skills to document work orders, time, inspections, and materials.
• Professional communication and the ability to work respectfully in a treatment-program environment.
• At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
• Must be able to meet specific staff requirements outlined in Minnesota Statutes 245G.11.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and insurability in accordance with organizational policies if driving is required for assigned job duties.
• Must successfully complete and maintain all required training and competency requirements applicable to the position prior to providing direct care or client services, including training related to client rights, confidentiality, mandated reporting, professional boundaries, and other applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.
• Must successfully complete a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background study and maintain eligibility for all DHS background studies, clearances, and requirements applicable to assigned services and programs prior to providing direct care or client services.

• Frequently stand and walk for extended periods during a shift.
• Frequently bend, stoop, crouch, reach, push, pull, grasp, and use hands for tools and controls.
• Climb stairs and ladders and work at approved heights using required fall-protection practices.
• Move and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Use assistance or material-handling equipment when the load, shape, route, or conditions require it.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather, temperature, noise, dust, and lighting conditions while using required protective equipment.
• Maintain visual and motor coordination is needed to use tools and equipment safely.
• Work occasionally adjusted hours or respond to urgent facility needs when scheduled or authorized.

Target Compensation (Negotiable based on Qualifications): $20 to $22 per hour
