Job summary

Midwest Star Group is seeking a dependable Facilities & Property Maintenance Technician to handle maintenance across multiple Wisconsin locations. You’ll travel between sites to perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and project work while maintaining grounds and equipment.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in varying weather. A company vehicle is provided for travel between locations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities or property maintenance or related hands-on field.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Experience operating maintenance equipment and power tools.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Forklift certification preferred; ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance across multiple facilities and properties.
  • Conduct inspections to identify repairs, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
  • Perform building repairs including carpentry, plumbing, drywall, doors, hardware, painting, and staining.
  • Maintain landscaping and exterior property areas, and basic asphalt/concrete work.
  • Operate maintenance equipment including skid steers, tractors, loaders, and snow removal equipment.
  • Maintain and repair small engines and outdoor power equipment.
  • Assist with moving, installing, or relocating equipment and facility items.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs or services.
  • Document repairs and maintenance activities and track outstanding needs.

Description

Midwest Star Group is looking for a dependable, hands-onFacilities & Property Maintenance Technician to help maintain our facilities, properties, grounds, and equipment across multiple company locations.

This is a varied position for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, operating equipment, and tackling a wide range of maintenance projects. No two days will look exactly the same. The Technician will travel between company locations to identify maintenance needs, complete repairs and preventative maintenance, maintain grounds and equipment, and support facility improvement projects.

What You’ll Do:
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance across multiple company facilities and properties
  • Conduct property and facility inspections to identify needed repairs, safety concerns, and preventative maintenance needs
  • Perform general building repairs, including basic carpentry, plumbing, drywall, doors, hardware, fixtures, painting, and staining
  • Maintain landscaping, grass, weeds, trees, ponds, drainage areas, and other exterior property areas
  • Perform minor asphalt and concrete maintenance and repairs
  • Perform snow and ice removal, including plowing, shoveling, and maintaining parking lots and access areas
  • Operate equipment including skid steers, tractors, loaders, telehandlers, mowers, and other maintenance equipment
  • Maintain and perform minor repairs on small engines and equipment, including mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and similar equipment
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles in safe working condition
  • Assist with moving, installing, or relocating equipment, shelving, furniture, and other facility items
  • Assist with fleet maintenance and towing operations as needed and based on qualifications
  • Pick up and transport parts, materials, equipment, and supplies between company locations as needed
  • Assist with facility improvement, repair, and renovation projects
  • Coordinate with outside contractors or vendors when specialized repairs or services are required
  • Maintain basic records of repairs, preventative maintenance, and outstanding facility needs
  • Help maintain an organized inventory of commonly used maintenance materials and supplies
  • Develop and maintain a list of property and maintenance projects that may be completed by tow operators or other available employees during operational downtime
  • Respond to urgent facility or property needs as necessary, including occasional nights, weekends, or holidays

A company vehicle will be available for authorized business travel between company locations, snow removal, and other work-related responsibilities. The vehicle is not assigned as a take-home vehicle.

Requirements
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, property maintenance, construction, landscaping, equipment operation, fleet maintenance, or a related hands-on field preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and complete a variety of maintenance and repair projects
  • Experience performing general building and property repairs
  • Experience operating medium-to-heavy equipment such as skid steers, tractors, loaders, telehandlers, and snow-removal equipment preferred
  • Experience maintaining small engines and outdoor power equipment preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
  • Class A CDL preferred, but not required
  • Forklift certification preferred; ability to obtain certification if needed
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize projects, and manage responsibilities across multiple locations
  • Ability to communicate maintenance needs, project status, and safety concerns to leadership
  • Strong attention to safety, quality, and proper care of company property and equipment
  • Dependable attendance and flexibility to respond to occasional urgent maintenance needs
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, stand, walk, push, pull, and perform physical work throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items, up to approximately 100 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment
  • Availability for occasional emergency needs outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
