Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Project Manager – Design & Construction in New York to provide leadership on capital projects and oversee coordination, budgeting, and execution across Physical Plant, Grounds, Custodial Operations, and Campus Planning.

You will supervise a team of 30–40 staff and contractors, collaborate with campus stakeholders, draft project scopes, and ensure timely reporting and project turnover while advancing the institution's facilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or related field.
• Minimum of three years related work experience.
• Minimum of three years supervisory or management experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of project scheduling and coordination.
• Ability to develop and lead project teams and manage consultants/contractors.
• Excellent planning, assessment, and communication with stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle confidential information.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Manage planning, budgeting, design, consultant and contractor selection, pre-construction bidding, construction management, quality assurance, and project turnover to operations and maintenance for multiple capital construction projects.
• Develop processes and procedures for facilities-related projects and serve as SME on project design and construction management.
• Monitor and evaluate activities on assigned projects by tracking progress and preparing status reports.
• Provide leadership and supervision to facilities staff—managers to ~40 staff and external contractors.
• Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and development.
• Collaborate with the VP to develop project scope and maintenance plans.
• Serve as the primary contact for facilities management, capital planning, and construction; monitor workflow and results.
• Draft RFPs with procurement and supervise design/construction activities.
• Foster collaboration with campus departments and participate in committees.
• Provide timely communication among stakeholders.
• Stay current with developments via publications and professional organizations.
• Other duties as assigned.
