Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Facilities Engineer – Level 2 for a 100% onsite role. You will lead planning, budgeting, and contract management while overseeing installation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building automation systems.

You will collaborate with engineers, managers and regulators, influence preventive maintenance, and partner with EHS to ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years’ exp, or Master’s degree with no exp.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and BAS/utility systems.
• Experience managing multiple facilities projects: budgeting, scheduling, contracts.
• Proficiency with MS Office and scheduling tools (MS Project).
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Facilities Engineer – Level 2 to join the Synoptics facility in Charlotte, NC. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning, budgeting, contract management, and oversight of project execution.
• Design and oversee installation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building automation systems.
• Collaborate with department engineers, managers, contractors and regulatory bodies.
• Influence preventative maintenance programs and repair activities to keep building systems operational and safe.
• Partner with EHS on all facilities and projects to adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Act as central point of contact for internal teams, external consultants, contractors and vendors.
• Assist in budget planning, monitor costs and manage contract finances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with no professional experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems, including chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, and building automation.
• Experience managing multiple facilities‑related projects, including budgeting, scheduling and contract administration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Preferred: Master’s in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems.

Benefits & Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600 – $119,400. Eligible for overtime, shift differential and discretionary bonus. Health, dental, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off.
