Job summary

Columbia University Facilities & Operations is seeking a Porter to assist with cleaning and maintaining apartment buildings and surrounding grounds in the University community. The role supports sidewalks, stairs, windows, floors and common areas, with snow removal and seasonal upkeep as part of routine duties.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with knowledge of building and grounds maintenance considered a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or equivalent.
• Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds complex: elevators, stairways, corridors, windows, floors, laundry rooms.
• Trimming trees and shrubs, and lawn maintenance.
• Sweeps and hoses sidewalks.
• Removes snow and spreads salt as needed.
• Heavy lifting may be required.
