Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a Facilities Plumber to support all plumbing aspects on the Griffin Campus. The role involves preventative maintenance, pipe fabrication, and oversight of plumbing personnel to ensure high standards of safety and compliance.

You will estimate labor and material costs, coordinate with staff, and maintain records while supporting various systems including gas, water, and boilers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience.
• Georgia Master Plumbing License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, installation and repair of plumbing pipes, sinks, traps, valves, faucets, vents, pumps, and similar equipment, fixtures, and apparatus.
• Designs and fabricates pipe fittings for renovations, gas, vacuum, air, hot/cold water, DI/DE water, drain, irrigation systems, and greenhouse heating and cooling systems.
• Plans and lays out work from oral and written instructions; provide technical oversight of plumbing contractors and subcontractors performing work on campus, repair, and maintenance of water, air, gas, sewer, steam, and hot water heating and distribution systems.
• Conducts regular inspections of work in progress and on completion; participates in the more complex plumbing tasks.
• Confers with officials on plumbing projects and makes recommendations.
• Responsible for the operation of a natural gas system, which includes installation, repair, maintenance and record keeping to meet Federal regulatory guidelines.
• Estimates job labor and materials costs; maintains job and cost records; requisitions material, supplies, and equipment.
• Responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and record keeping of boilers and pressure vessels so they meet the Georgia codes.
• Order supplies for repairs with the use of a PCard.
• Performs related work as needed.
