Crothall Healthcare, a Compass Group company, is hiring a Facilities Plumber for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. This role covers daily plumbing and utility maintenance, planning materials, and ensuring regulatory compliance across the medical center. 1st Shift, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, Monday–Friday.

The successful candidate will lead skilled trades staff, manage work orders, supervise safety, inspect sites, estimate parts, coordinate with vendors, and uphold Joint Commission/NFPA standards.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED; college preferred.
• 3–5 years of plumbing experience.
• Hospital plumbing experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
• Stand for long periods and withstand temperature changes.
• Maneuver large trucks in/out of elevators and corridors.
• Lift and push heavy equipment.
• Bend with ease.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule skilled trades staff for hospital maintenance and repairs.
• Monitor work orders to completion and charge labor, supplies, and materials correctly.
• Direct staff to use safe methods to protect patients, staff and visitors.
• Inspect work sites to ensure conformance with job specifications.
• Recommend and implement policies for the assigned area.
• Estimate parts and materials needed to complete work.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors and departments on repair and maintenance.
• Work in accord with Joint Commission, NFPA and regulatory standards.

Job Summary

Plans and completes the daily operations of plumbing and utility maintenance responsibilities including planning and use of materials and inspection of plumbing equipment and systems, as well as ensuring all work performed meets regulations throughout the medical center. This is a 1st Shift 7am to 3:30pm M-F schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates and schedules the activities of skilled trades' staff in the maintenance and repair of hospital buildings and equipment
• Monitors work orders to completion of projects to ensure that labor, supplies and materials are charged to appropriate work orders
• Provides direction to staff in the accurate methods to use in the performance of their duties to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors
• Conducts inspections of work sites to ensure that the work conforms and aligns with the job specifications.
• Recommends and implements policies and procedures for assigned area
• Estimates equipment parts and materials needed to complete assigned work
• Maintains communication with vendors, contractors and departmental personnel to coordinate activities and information regarding the repair, alteration and maintenance of equipment, machinery, systems and buildings
• Conduct all work in accordance with the Joint Commission, NFPA and all other applicable regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or GED, College Preferred
• 3-5 years of plumbing experience
• Hospital plumbing experience preferred
• Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and withstand changing temperature conditions
• Ability to maneuver large trucks in and out of elevator and down corridors with ease
• Ability to lift and push heavy equipment
• Ability to bend with ease
