Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Plumber to manage the upkeep, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repair of all plumbing and mechanical systems within our facility. The ideal candidate ensures all work complies with local plumbing codes, minimizes building downtime, and delivers high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- System Maintenance & Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and repair broken water lines, sewage ejector systems, gas lines, flush valves, backflow preventers, and commercial water heaters.
- Drain Clearing: Unclog and jet main sewer lines, floor drains, sink traps, and storm drains using mechanical augers or hydro-jetting equipment.
- Installation & Upgrades: Measure, cut, thread, solder, and assemble pipe networks (PVC, copper, PEX, galvanized steel) for building remodels or fixture replacements.
- Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance routines in mechanical rooms, boilers, circulating pumps, and booster heaters to prevent system failures.
- Work Order & Compliance Management: Log completed tasks into the facility's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and adhere to local/state building and safety codes.
- Emergency Response: Provide on-call or immediate response to critical plumbing emergencies during or after standard working hours.
- Contractor Coordination: Assist or oversee outside specialty contractors during major capital construction or specialized utility projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Vocational training or completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship is strongly preferred.
- License: Valid state Journeyman or Master Plumber license. Backflow prevention certification is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on commercial, institutional, or industrial plumbing and facilities maintenance experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Expert knowledge of pipe sizing, water pressure regulation, and drainage dynamics.
- Comfortable using diagnostic tools, power threading machines, soldering torches, and heavy root-clearing equipment.
- Physical & Environmental Demands: Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, stand, crawl, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight mechanical spaces or diverse weather conditions.
- Driver's License: Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
