Job summary

Mission Pharmacal is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Plumber to oversee plumbing across the facility, ensuring safe operation of boilers, air compressors, and water systems. The role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining piping, fixtures, and related equipment in a fast-paced production environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Texas Journeyman license, 2+ years of related experience, and strong knowledge of IPC standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus relevant field training and a minimum of two years related experience, training, or an equivalent combination thereof.
• Texas State Board Journeyman Plumbing License is required.
• Knowledge of commercial and industrial plumbing systems, boilers, and air compressors; use of inventory tracking databases and related software.

Responsibilities

• Installs, changes, repairs, services, and renovates plumbing according to the International Plumbing Code Book.
• Assembles, cuts, threads, bends, layouts, and repairs pipes, valves, fixtures, and fittings.
• Fills pipe systems with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine leakage.
• Repairs and maintains leaky faucets, mends burst pipes, opens clogged drains, and maintains ET beds.
• Performs routine servicing and maintenance on facility boilers, compressed air setups, and commercial air dryer equipment.
• Executes USP water sampling and testing protocols to ensure manufacturing compliance.
• Schedules and performs preventive maintenance checks across all plant utility systems.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Maintain all plumbing pipes, sanitary plumbing, and fixtures across the facility. Keep all production equipment, specialized water systems, air compressors, and boilers in safe, optimal working order.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installs, changes, repairs, services, and renovates plumbing according to the International Plumbing Code Book.
• Assembles, cuts, threads, bends, layouts, and repairs pipes, valves, fixtures, and fittings.
• Fills pipe systems with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine leakage.
• Repairs and maintains leaky faucets, mends burst pipes, opens clogged drains, and maintains evapotranspiration (ET) beds.
• Performs routine servicing and maintenance on facility boilers, compressed air setups, and commercial air dryer equipment.
• Executes United States Pharmacopeia (USP) water sampling and testing protocols to ensure manufacturing compliance.
• Schedules and performs preventive maintenance checks across all plant utility systems,
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties summarized above and possess the skills and competencies summarized herein, including (i) knowledge of commercial and industrial plumbing systems, boilers, and air compressors; (ii) use of various computer software, especially inventory tracking databases, spreadsheets, and order processing systems; and (iii) possessing a High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus relevant field training and a minimum of two years related experience, training, or an equivalent combination thereof. (iv) Texas State Board Journeyman Plumbing License required.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Must be able to (i) read and understand simple instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; (ii) write simple correspondence and routine reports; (iii) effectively communicate information and respond to questions, orally and in writing, in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, managers, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:

Must be able to (i) add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; (ii) compute rate, ratio, and percent and prepare or interpret basic charts and graphs; (iii) utilize common sense understanding and experience in carrying out written, oral and/or diagrammed instructions; and (iv) deal with practical problems involving several known variables in situations where limited standardization exists.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel components; reach, talk, and hear; frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally climb or balance; regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds; and exhibit close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral perception, and depth perception.
