Job summary

La Plata County is seeking an Ops & Maint Specialist to maintain county buildings, perform carpentry, plumbing, roofing, HVAC, snow removal and concrete repair. You will lead duties, direct work, train staff and resolve conflicts, coordinating with users for events and utilities.

The role requires operating heavy equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting grounds maintenance; on-call rotation and safety checks are included. DL required; HVAC experience preferred.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.
3–4 years of progressively responsible related experience.
Valid State Driver's License; First Aid/CPR desirable.
Knowledge of building trades and safety practices.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, repair and restoration of county buildings, facilities and grounds.
Inspect facilities and equipment; operate related machinery.
Lead staff, train workers, and assign tasks via work orders; ensure safety.
Support event setup/teardown, utilities coordination, and on-call rotation.
Operate heavy equipment (tractors, backhoes, dump trucks) and perform preventive maintenance.
