Job summary

Alamosa County is seeking a Maintenance Tech to perform cleaning, repair, and maintenance of county buildings, property, and related facilities. You will ensure safety standards are followed for public and employee protection.

The role requires hands-on skills across trades, readiness for on-call emergencies, and adherence to county policies. Work includes outdoor grounds, equipment maintenance, and occasional after-hours calls.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or up to one month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must pass Alamosa County background check and pre-employment drug testing
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License required

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, repair, install, and perform routine maintenance on all County owned buildings and associated equipment.
  • Design, build, install and/or repair County facilities and equipment using techniques in mechanical, electrical, painting, drywall, woodworking, plumbing, masonry.
  • Replaces air conditioner filters and monitors HVAC performance as needed.
  • Cleans sidewalks and outside area of debris or snow and ice as needed; may be called in after hours to ensure safety.
  • Mows lawns, trims shrubbery, cultivates flowers, and operates small equipment as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance of lawn and garden tools, including oil changes and lubrication.
  • Repair, move, and set up office and facility furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Assist with painting of county facilities.
  • Respond to emergencies and safety concerns at all hours.
  • Back-up for custodians as needed.
