Job summary

The Rhode Island Department of Administration, Division of Facilities Management, is seeking a Building & Grounds Officer to supervise operations, maintenance, repair and construction for assigned facilities. The role oversees staff, vendors, and contractors, ensuring compliance with plans, codes and safety standards.

You will develop cost estimates, monitor energy management, coordinate purchasing and contracts, and prepare annual work programs while supporting the Chief Property Manager.

Qualifications

• Education and experience as described: high school graduation and supervisory maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of building services and mechanical equipment, safety standards, and code compliance.
• Ability to supervise staff, coordinate vendors, review plans and cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and implement a comprehensive operations, maintenance, repair and construction program.
• Direct supervision of facilities personnel, vendors and contractors.
• Inspect work for conformance to plans, contracts and codes.
• Oversee boiler and HVAC maintenance and energy management.
• Prepare cost estimates, vouchers, and purchase orders; monitor procurement workflows.
