Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Addison, TX is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead and support building operations. You will oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, supervise engineering staff, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll develop preventive maintenance plans, coordinate with vendors, and drive operational excellence to deliver reliable facility services for clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; valid stationary engineer's license or equivalent as required by local jurisdiction.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in building operations, maintenance, and repair of commercial facilities.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and building automation systems.
• Experience supervising maintenance staff and coordinating contractor activities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer in managing all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and BMS.
• Supervise and mentor engineering technicians and coordinate work orders.
• Conduct regular inspections of mechanical rooms and equipment for issues.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs per manufacturer specs and regulations.
• Respond to emergencies, diagnose issues, and minimize downtime.
• Manage vendor/contractor relationships and ensure quality workmanship.
• Maintain documentation of maintenance activities and compliance records.
