Job description

At ispace U.S., we’re not just going to the Moon—we’re redefining how we get there. Our missions push the boundaries of human and robotic exploration, driven by our belief: “Expand our Planet. Expand our Future.” By providing cost-effective lunar transportation, we are pioneering a future where space is within reach for scientific discovery, commercial ventures, and sustainable exploration.

With locations in Japan, Luxembourg, and the United States, ispace is rapidly growing and leading the way in lunar exploration and development. Our U.S. branch is based in Englewood, Colorado, and focuses on high-capacity payload lunar landers designed to support future lunar missions. Our team is made up of innovators, problem-solvers, and visionaries committed to making space more accessible and fostering the next generation of space exploration.

Let’s go to the Moon together! Our team is growing, and we are actively seeking talented individuals who share our passion for space.

As the Facility Operations Manager at ispace, you will take full ownership of our facility operations, ensuring our workspace is safe, functional, and well-maintained. This hands-on role requires someone who can independently manage maintenance, vendor coordination, security, and compliance with minimal guidance. As a team of one, you will work closely with dozens of vendors and internal stakeholders to keep operations running smoothly, proactively address issues, and implement improvements where needed. While you will primarily be onsite each workday, certain tasks will require early morning or after-hours availability depending on scheduled work. If you are a skilled problem solver with a strong technical background and the ability to take charge of facility management, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Operations & Maintenance: Ensure our 50,000 sq. ft. facility, along with all equipment and systems, is well-maintained, fully functional, and meets operational needs.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and oversee schedules for HVAC, plumbing, forklifts, emergency equipment, and other critical systems.
  • Repairs & Troubleshooting: Perform minor repairs, installations, and general maintenance (e.g., assembling furniture, painting, addressing facility issues).
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain compliance with OSHA, fire safety, and security protocols, conducting regular inspections and drills.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Select, coordinate, and oversee third-party vendors and contractors to ensure quality work and budget adherence.
  • Facility Budgeting & Sustainability: Track expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement sustainability initiatives where possible.
  • Team Collaboration: Act as the go-to person for facility-related needs, working closely with employees, leadership, and external partners.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain business continuity plans to address emergencies or major equipment failures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in facility operations, maintenance, or a related role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and facility budgets.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and emergency preparedness.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks (e.g., climbing ladders, operating tools).
  • Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Experience managing facilities in an industrial, R&D, or aerospace environment.
  • Familiarity with facility management software or tools like Jira.
  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing cost-saving or sustainability initiatives.
  • Certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or OSHA Safety Certification.
  • Ability to anticipate problems before they arise and proactively develop solutions.

At ispace, we believe that diverse perspectives drive innovation. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, even if you don’t meet every listed requirement. If you’re passionate about our mission and think you can contribute, we encourage you to apply. Your unique skills and experiences may be exactly what we need to grow and succeed together.
