Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Facilities Operating Engineer specializing in Boiler Operations for a premier medical facility. You will own boiler systems, perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and energy optimization to ensure continuous, safe operation in a patient-care environment.

The role features a Monday–Friday day shift with rotating on-call coverage and opportunities for professional growth within a safety-first team. Strong technical and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of related experience.
  • Possess a valid Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License, or obtain within management-defined timeframe after hire.
  • Must meet physical requirements: stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting 50 lbs+.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources.
  • Willingness to adopt new perspectives on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and an inquisitive mindset.
  • Compliance with collective bargaining agreement terms when applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain heating equipment.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair boiler systems to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on steam and hot water boilers, burners, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
  • Verify field conditions and perform repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Inspect engine room and associated systems including fans, cooling towers, motors, pumps, generators, and pumps.
  • Document and report activities to supervisor.
  • Respond immediately to emergencies (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc).
  • Complete required Safety Training and answer inquiries promptly.
  • Apply standard principles to complex tasks and provide innovative solutions.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain heating equipment.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial boiler systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on steam boilers, hot water boilers, burners, pumps, valves, and associated equipment.
  • Verify field conditions and perform any necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Inspect engine room equipment, fan room equipment, cooling tower, all motors, house pumps, electric rooms, back-up generator, fire pumps, sump pumps, and ejector pumps.
  • Document and report activities to supervisor.
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations. This includes fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.
  • Complete all required Safety Training as scheduled and answer customer inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Possess a valid Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License, or obtain the license within a timeframe established by management following hire.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
