Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technician (Facilities) to design, build, activate, and maintain advanced manufacturing facilities at the Hawthorne, CA site. You will operate with autonomy to tackle diverse projects, collaborating with engineers and internal customers to ensure peak facility performance.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, preventive maintenance, and strong documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of professional experience with HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical systems.
• Experience maintaining/repairing facility HVAC and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, managers, and customers to maintain systems and develop/update work instructions to prevent unplanned downtime.
• Maintain and repair HVAC support equipment including air handlers, chilled water systems, pumps, cooling towers, valves, and filters.
• Perform ductwork modifications, brazing, soldering, evacuation & charging of refrigerants, water piping, and insulation repairs.
• Assemble, install, and maintain pipes, fittings, heating, water, and drainage systems per specs and codes.
• Read and interpret schematics for assembly and repair; conduct safety inspections and document maintenance statuses.
