The Jackson Laboratory in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer II to provide advanced plant operational support, planning, design/engineering, and project management oversight for its capital projects portfolio.

The role leads HVAC, medium pressure steam and chilled water plant operations and drives energy efficiency initiatives across a complex research laboratory and vivaria space, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and 5+ years in project management related to building and building systems renovation and new construction projects.

Responsibilities

Utilize expertise in mechanical systems to inform and influence project design and construction.
Act as Project Manager for design and construction capital projects, managing schedules, budgets, and scope.
Lead planning, design, construction, and occupancy phases of projects from $20K to $10M with effective communication and leadership.
Provide guidance to peer engineers and maintenance teams; conduct feasibility studies and strategic recommendations.
