Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care's Engineering Services, HVAC Shop, seeks a Facilities Mechanic III to perform skilled building and equipment maintenance on campus.

The role is full-time with a 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule, Monday–Friday, with on-call weekends and holidays as needed. Responsibilities include repairing plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, autoclave equipment, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment.
• Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.

• Inspects, maintains and makes operating repairs on electrical equipment and wiring, plumbing fixtures and pipe, heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment
• Repair and maintain plumbing and fixtures (faucets, toilets, showers, sinks, drains and drain lines), plaster traps, grease traps, maintain centrifugal pumps and associated equipment
• Repair and maintain autoclave, sterilizing and related equipment
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all equipment
• Repair and maintain water heaters and water supply
• Additional duties as required
