Job summary

Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) in Delaware is seeking an experienced trades incumbent to perform advanced maintenance, HVAC upkeep, and restoration work on structures and equipment across facilities. The role emphasizes efficient operation, safety, and timely repairs to support administrative and care services.

Responsibilities include routine and complex maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electrical systems; renovation and space optimization; supervising trainees; and

Qualifications

• Six months experience operating and maintaining equipment in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Six months experience in various trades fields and in record keeping.
• Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
• Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified).

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative routine and complex maintenance on building structures, fixtures and HVAC systems.
• Carry out restoration and renovation on facilities, bridges or historical buildings and plan space layouts.
• May supervise skilled or semi-skilled maintenance staff and trainees.
• Maintain records of work, materials used and time spent; refer jobs beyond limits to private contractors.
• Operate life safety devices and maintain pumps, compressors and plumbing projects.
