Job summary

Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) in Delaware seeks an experienced maintenance trades specialist. You will perform preventative maintenance, electrical work, HVAC tasks, and restoration on facilities to ensure reliable operation of infrastructure.

You will interpret blueprints, estimate costs, manage records, and may supervise a team. A Delaware Journeyperson Electrician license or equivalent is required, along with driver’s license and minimum experience in trades and record

Qualifications

• Possession of a Delaware Journeyperson or higher Electrician license OR license from another state meeting Delaware requirements.
• Six months experience in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Six months experience in record keeping.
• Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative, routine and complex maintenance repairs on interior and exterior building structures, fixtures and appurtenances; bridges; heavy duty equipment or HVAC systems.
• Performs electrical work, including modifying electrical service and maintaining and repairing electrical systems.
• Restoration and renovation on facilities; may design layout to optimize space usage.
• Recommends referral of jobs beyond limits to private contractors.
• Maintains HVAC systems, pumps, and life safety devices; operates and maintains electrical/plumbing projects.
• Oversees work of maintenance staff when applicable.
• Maintains records of work performed, materials used and time spent.
