Job summary

Knapheide is seeking a facilities and manufacturing engineer to assist with planning, designing, implementing and maintaining infrastructure at our Truck Equipment Centers. You will manage capital projects, optimize processes, and drive efficiency in manufacturing across sites.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant engineering degree, 3–5 years of experience, and familiarity with Procore/Bluebeam. Travel of 25–50% is required, with strong organizational and communication skills to work across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Facilities Manager with site layouts, capital planning, and project management.
  • Evaluate processes and implementations to improve efficiency, quality and cost.
  • Define and manage line layouts, tooling, fixtures and equipment projects.
  • Document and implement new manufacturing and installation processes.
  • Coordinate standardization initiatives across multiple locations.

Job description

Position Overview:

Assist with planning, designing, implementing and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment within our Knapheide Truck Equipment Center facilities. Manage projects related to building systems. Support Knapheide Truck Equipment Centers with designing, implementing and optimizing manufacturing processes. Focus on improving efficiency, quality and cost by analyzing existing systems, developing new equipment and/or processes.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Assist Facilities Manager with new/expanded/remodeled sites including facility/site layouts, facility design, site design, capital planning, construction management, capital purchases, production line layouts, racking, paint booths, overhead cranes, equipment procurement, etc.

  • Evaluate existing processes to identify areas that could benefit from changes and/or improvements.

  • Responsible for specifications, designs, sourcing and project management of line layouts, tooling, fixtures and equipment projects for both equipment center operations and fleet run operations.

  • Define, document and implement new and changed manufacturing and installation processes.

  • Evaluate processes across multiple locations and determine best practices for standardization across all equipment centers.

  • Gather and organize necessary data for justification of projects requiring capital investment.


Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

  • Experience running large scale/capital projects preferred.

  • Experience with Procore and Bluebeam is preferred.

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience is preferred.

  • Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be a self-motivator with a sense of urgency.

  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.

  • SolidWorks (or other solid modeling software), 2D CAD and MS Office knowledge are a must.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a cross functional team and communicate progress across all levels of management.

  • 25-50% travel expected.


Physical/Mental Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Functions of the Position:

Normal standing, bending, walking or lifting ability associated with an office environment. Capable of working in an industrial manufacturing environment in proximity to sources of noise, weld flash, and metal dust. Must be capable of communicating verbally with individuals at all levels of the organization and have good critical reasoning, organization, and mechanical skills.
