Job Title: Facilities Manager
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County, Lone Tree, CO
FLSA Status:Non- Exempt
Reports to: Headmaster
Work Hours/Days: Year-round, Monday-Friday, Full Time 40 hours per week
Essential Function/Responsibilities
- Oversee routine and preventive maintenance of school buildings and grounds, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building repairs.
- Ensure that all safety and security protocols are followed, including fire safety, emergency preparedness, and access control.
- Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and other facility-related services.
- Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality and safety.
- Ensure all facilities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.
- Oversee the inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring timely procurement and cost management.
- Supervise and manage facilities staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of school events, ensuring all facilities are prepared and restored appropriately.
- Distribute information as needed from the Dean of Operations to the custodial department.
- Perform routine maintenance of custodial equipment, supplies, and any other facilities' needs. Sometime,s perform this maintenance alongside a contractor or other vendor, and/or know when it is necessary to contact an outside contractor to repair or replace the equipment or item.
- Working in conjunction with the Inventory Finance Specialist, oversee the cleaning supply stock and making orders as necessary.
- Ensure facilities equipment is working properly, reporting any malfunctions to the Dean of Operations.
- Overlook tools and equipment, ensure it is properly utilized, checked out and returned.
- Working in conjunction with the Dean of Operations with the set-up and tear-down of all year-round school events at our facilities.
- Unlock doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
- Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Dean of Operations.
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in facilities management or engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field
- Relevant certifications in facilities management or maintenance (e.g., Certified Facility Manager, Building Operator Certification) are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
- Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education

- Adherence to all ACACS policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies
- Experience in commercial cleaning is preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move freely around the school campus, including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Capacity to lift and carry materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, possibly more with assistance.
- Skill in using hand and power tools, operating equipment, and performing tasks that require fine motor control.
- Ability to read detailed documents, diagrams, and plans, as well as to inspect facilities for maintenance needs and safety compliance.
- Capability to hear alarms, verbal instructions, and communications in noisy environments.
- Endurance to perform physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, bending, and reaching.
- Skill in maintaining balance while climbing ladders or working at heights.
- Comfort working in various environmental conditions, such as outdoors in different weather or indoors in areas with dust, noise, or chemicals.
