Job Title: Upper School Teacher - Mathematics
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (ACADC), Lone Tree CO
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Dean of Upper School
Work Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 3:35 pm, plus professional development and work days
The Mathematics Teacher at Ascent Classical Academies is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in middle- and high-school mathematics, from pre-algebra to calculus. This role emphasizes classical education principles, focusing on cultivating virtue, intellectual curiosity, and academic excellence. Teachers will prepare unit and lesson plans aligned with Hillsdale College's K-12 Program Guide, using classical pedagogy to engage students.
Responsibilities include assigning and grading student work promptly, monitoring progress, providing differentiated instruction, collaborating with the Student Services team for special education plans, and maintaining regular communication with parents.
Additional duties involve participating as a faculty mentor in the Upper School House System, supervising student activities, maintaining professionalism, and engaging in professional development, including Hillsdale College training.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and pass the State Praxis exam. Preference is given to those with a mathematics degree or extensive coursework. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills are essential, along with a commitment to the school's mission and values.
This position requires physical ability to move within the school, monitor activities, and lift up to 15 pounds. Reliable attendance and adherence to policies are expected.
Mandatory background checks, including fingerprinting, are required. Certain convictions may disqualify candidates. Verification of qualifications and adherence to Colorado Education Laws are also necessary. The employer uses E-Verify.
Salary ranges from $45,000 to $55,000 annually.
