Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee day-to-day facilities operations for one or more commercial buildings in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will lead a team, manage budgets, and coordinate with external contractors to ensure uptime and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license required – MVR will be conducted.
  • Experience staffing, training, and retaining technical facilities personnel.
  • Facility Management certification or standard building engineering certification preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of large-scale backup power systems, chillers, and building automation systems preferred.

  • Provide formal supervision to facilities maintenance employees.

  • Oversee recruiting for skilled commercial facilities technicians.

  • Perform facility inspections following safety standards.
  • Suggest operational efficiencies for energy usage.
  • Manage environmental health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and invoicing procedures.
  • Review contractor quotes for parts and labor.
  • Lead training on maintenance workflows and safety.

About the Role:

As a Facility Manager, you will manage a team responsible for overseeing day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance for one or more commercial buildings. This job is a part of the Facilities Management functional area, focusing on maximizing building uptime, mitigating operational risk, and providing strategic support regarding commercial HVAC systems, power distribution, and building lifecycle plans.

What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalent experience in commercial facility operations will be considered.
  • Valid driver's license required - MVR will be conducted.
  • Facility Management or standard building engineering certification preferred.
  • Experience in staffing, training, and retaining technical facilities personnel.
  • Ability to handle sensitive operational data and incident report communication.
  • Leadership skills to motivate teams toward zero-downtime operational goals.
  • Deep knowledge of large-scale backup power systems, commercial chillers, and building automation systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
