Job summary

Moog Space & Defense Group seeks a proactive Facilities Manager to lead operations for the Gilbert, Arizona site, ensuring safe, reliable facilities for engineering, manufacturing and business operations. Reporting to the Site General Manager, you will drive preventive maintenance, infrastructure management, and capital projects while coordinating with engineering, IT, finance, and EHS.

You'll shape long-range facility strategy, manage budgets, and partner with vendors to deliver improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of facilities management experience in manufacturing or regulated environments.
  • Experience managing vendors, service contracts, operating budgets, and capital improvement projects.
  • Experience supporting engineering laboratories, testing facilities, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of commercial and industrial building systems and infrastructure.
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee building infrastructure: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, compressed air, backup power.

  • Manage facility vendors, bids, and contracts with performance metrics.
  • Deliver capital improvements and manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
  • Support manufacturing and engineering by maintaining critical infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Collaborate with site leadership on space planning and future relocation if needed.

We are seeking a highly capable Facilities Manager to lead facilities operations for our Gilbert, Arizona site and ensure a safe, reliable, and high-performing environment for engineering, manufacturing, and business operations.

Reporting directly to the Site General Manager, this highly visible role serves as the site's facilities subject matter expert, and strategic partner. You will lead facility operations, critical infrastructure management, capital improvement projects, vendor partnerships, and long-range facility planning while collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, IT, Finance, Security, and EHS.

This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on site performance today while helping shape the facility strategy that supports future business growth. As business needs evolve, you may also play a key role in evaluating, planning, and executing a future facility relocation in partnership with corporate real estate and executive leadership.

What You'll Do
Lead Facilities Operations
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of office, engineering laboratory, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance strategies that improve facility reliability and reduce operational risk.
  • Oversee critical building infrastructure, including:
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical distribution
    • Plumbing systems
    • Fire protection systems
    • Compressed air systems
    • Backup power systems
    • Loading docks and material handling support areas
  • Coordinate emergency repairs, facility recovery efforts, and business continuity activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Manage Vendors and Strategic Partners
  • Select, negotiate, and manage relationships with facility service providers and contractors.
  • Lead competitive bidding and contract review processes.
  • Establish performance expectations, monitor service levels, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure contractor work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Deliver Capital Improvements and Infrastructure Projects
  • Lead office remodels, laboratory upgrades, manufacturing improvements, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
  • Manage all project phases.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk mitigation plans.
  • Drive successful project execution while minimizing disruption to business operations.
Support Manufacturing and Engineering Excellence
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support mission-critical facility requirements.
  • Maintain infrastructure supporting sensitive manufacturing and testing environments, including:
    • Temperature control
    • Humidity control
    • ESD-sensitive areas
    • Cleanliness and environmental requirements
  • Coordinate utility shutdowns and facility work to minimize production impact.
  • Support facility modifications required for expanding manufacturing and test operations.
Drive Financial Stewardship
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests, business cases, and ROI analyses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize facility performance.
Shape Future Facility Strategy
  • Develop annual facility improvement and infrastructure investment plans.
  • Support long-range space planning and growth initiatives.
  • Partner with site leadership on future site evaluations, lease considerations, and facility planning.
  • Lead execution of future relocation activities when business needs authorize the initiative.
Build Strong Cross-Functional Partnerships
  • Collaborate with EHS to ensure world-class safety performance and environmental compliance.
  • Provide facility recommendations and project updates to site leadership.
  • Build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Serve as a key contributor to site operational excellence and long-term business success.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of facilities management experience within manufacturing, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical device, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience managing facility vendors, service contracts, operating budgets, and capital improvement projects.
  • Experience supporting engineering laboratories, testing facilities, or advanced manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of commercial and industrial building systems and infrastructure.
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline
  • Aerospace or defense industry experience.
  • Knowledge of CMMS platforms and preventive maintenance systems.
  • Professional certifications such as:
    • PMP
    • IFMA FMP or CFM
    • OSHA 30
    • Other relevant facilities or project management certifications
  • Experience leading facility expansions, consolidations, or relocation projects.
Scope of Responsibility
  • Support approximately 150-250 employees across multiple facilities.
  • Manage all site facilities operations through contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Own annual facilities operating and capital budgets.
  • Lead multiple concurrent infrastructure and improvement projects.
  • Serve as the primary facilities partner to the Site Leadership Team.

Salary Range Transparency

Phoenix, AZ $130,000.00-$145,000.00 Annually
