Overview:
Under the Branch Executive’s direction, this position oversees all maintenance, custodial operations, and facility upkeep at a Dane County YMCA's East location. The Facility Manager ensures building safety, cleanliness, and compliance with YMCA standards and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of facility maintenance and janitorial services.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
Create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members.
Develop and manage department budget.
Maintain equipment and facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
Lead branch safety efforts and risk management initiatives.
Ensure regulatory compliance and collaborate with local agencies.
Support staff and member engagement
Participate in YMCA events and maintain knowledge of programs and policies.
Qualifications:
3+ years’ experience in maintenance and team supervision.
High School Diploma/GED
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and custodial systems.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Position is primarily Monday through Friday however, must have the ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on facility needs.
CPR/AED, First Aid (within 30 days of hire).
CPO/AFO certification (within 6 months).
Physical Requirements:
Regularly lift, carry, move, stack, and load items weighing up to 100 lbs.
Perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs and ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling, shoveling snow, twisting, crawling, and working in confined spaces.
Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods — both indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions.
Operate maintenance equipment such as snow blowers, lawn mowers, power tools, and floor care machines.
Perform repetitive motions with hands, arms, and shoulders; demonstrate finger dexterity and gripping strength.
Respond quickly in emergency situations, including physical intervention if necessary.
