The Pegasus School seeks an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the care and operation of our 14-acre campus in Huntington Beach.
The Pegasus School seeks a skilled, thoughtful, and hands‑on facilities professional to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of our campus. This is an opportunity for an experienced facilities leader to take meaningful ownership of a dynamic school environment, leading both employees and service partners while ensuring that our buildings and grounds are safe, functional, welcoming, and well cared for.
The Facilities Manager oversees a broad facilities operation that includes maintenance, custodial services, grounds, security support, building systems, event operations, preventive maintenance, repairs, and capital projects. The position directly supervises Pegasus facilities employees and manages a network of outside service providers, including custodial, landscaping, security, maintenance, and specialty contractors.
Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for People and Operations, the Facilities Manager plays an important role in both the daily life and long‑term stewardship of the School. The Manager establishes priorities, directs staff and vendors, evaluates building and equipment needs, coordinates repairs and preventive maintenance, and helps plan and execute construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects. The role also works closely with School leadership on facilities planning, budgets, vendor selection, safety, and operational needs.
This is a management position that also values practical technical expertise. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable leading a team, evaluating a contractor's work, troubleshooting a building issue, reviewing a proposal, or stepping in to assist with a hands‑on facilities need when appropriate. We are looking for someone who takes pride in the condition of the campus, notices what needs attention, follows through, and builds strong working relationships with employees, vendors, and the broader school community.
This is a full‑time, twelve‑month, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Assistant Head of School for People and Operations.
The Facilities Manager supervises School‑employed maintenance and custodial personnel and oversees contracted service providers supporting campus operations, including custodial services, landscaping, security, event support, maintenance contractors, and other specialty vendors.
Some early morning, evening, weekend, or extended‑hours work may be required for School events, urgent facilities needs, maintenance activities, or construction projects.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and an associate degree, vocational certification, professional license, or equivalent advanced training or experience in facilities management, construction, building trades, engineering, or a related field.
The successful candidate will have at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in facilities, plant operations, construction, or building maintenance, including significant supervisory or management responsibility.
Strong candidates will also bring:
Salary range: $140,000 to $155,000 annually; starting pay based on experience and qualifications.
Classification: salaried, exempt.
