Job summary

Boyd Gaming is seeking an experienced engineering supervisor to lead maintenance and regulatory compliance across facilities. You will oversee staff, budget, and safety programs to ensure efficient operations and adherence to laws and standards.

Responsibilities include hiring and training, coordinating asbestos-related projects, and managing purchasing and inventory. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and several years of supervisory experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Environmental Management.
  • Minimum five years’ general engineering and maintenance supervisory experience and/or eight years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.

  • Inspects utilities and equipment to minimize OSHA violations during on-site inspections.
  • Manages hazardous chemicals and coordinates cleanup to comply with regulations.
  • Participates in long-term facilities planning and expansion projects.
  • Coordinates asbestos-related projects with outside contractors and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversees purchasing and inventory control within the department.

Job description


  1. The incumbent in this position is responsible for developing an environment that creates excitement for guests and employees, promoting and retaining a highly skilled work force.


  2. Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.


  3. Hires, trains, motivates, evaluates, and manages staff to ensure employees receive adequate guidance and resources to achieve established objectives.


  4. Establishes, implements, and monitors department objectives, standards, guidelines, budget, and other administrative processes to achieve proper management of department.


  5. Collects data and information through inspections and scientific testing in order to file reports to appropriate regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with regulations.


  6. Inspects property utilities and equipment and takes action to correct problems in order to minimize potential for violations during on-site safety inspections by OSHA.


  7. Provides expertise, direction, and labor and equipment resources, including monitoring of all hazardous chemicals located within the property in event of hazardous waste spill to ensure that cleanup procedures and results are in compliance with regulations.


  8. Participates in long-term planning of facilities expansion and modifications to ensure that engineering requirements are satisfied within the overall plan.


  9. Coordinates asbestos-related projects by meeting with and recommending outside contractors, and acts as in-house advisor on asbestos-related issues to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.


  10. Responsible for applicable purchasing and inventory control functions within the span of control.



Qualifications


  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, as well as all outside contacts.

  • Ability to accurately review the performance of subordinates and all necessary departmental documentation.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.

  • These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Environmental Management in addition to a minimum of five years’ general engineering and maintenance supervisory experience and/or through a minimum of eight years’ progressive engineering experience and/or closely related field in a comparably sized operation with five years of supervisory experience.
