Job summary

Bellevue Montessori School seeks a part-time Facilities Manager to maintain three campuses, oversee security, and coordinate renovations. You will liaise with contractors, manage vendor quotes, and ensure safety compliance while supporting school operations.

The role offers 25–35 hours per week, with some weekend requirements and remote work flexibility, in-person for meetings and on-site projects. Starting October 12, 2026, compensation reflects $38–$40 hourly DOE.

Qualifications

Job description

Mission Statement:

Guiding children 18 months – 12 years old, Bellevue Montessori School develops an academically, socially, emotionally, and culturally educated community of students within the framework of acceptance, compassion, and understanding, all in accordance with traditional Montessori curriculum and philosophy. We support each individual student in building a foundation for life-long learning in preparation for future educational endeavors.

Role Summary:

The Facilities Manager ensures the upkeep, security, and operational readiness of our school’s three campus facilities, executing maintenance and facility improvements efficiently to prevent disruption to school activities. Serving as a professional representative of the school, this role works closely with staff to assess campus needs, liaise with contractors, architects, and local officials, and manage vendor quotes and scheduling to secure the best service and value for our community.

Reports to the School Director

Collaborators:

Liaise with Operations Manager (Billings), Program Directors & Front Desk Administrators relating to campus maintenance and repairs, and HR Manager for staff security

Start Date: October 12th, 2026

Shift:

Approximately 25 to 35 hours per week and if more than 40 hours per week (over-time hours must be approved by the School Director) depending on the need of the campus (40 hours would be reserved for weeks where school is not in session). Some flexibility in hours is needed to open the campus on weekends and supervise vendors on-site. Some flexible remote work is available, but must be in-person for appointments, meetings, and to oversee campus projects. The current Facilities Coordinator has created a thorough project management and documentation file, along with processes, to support the new employee in orienting to the position.

Starting Hourly Rate: $38.00 to $40.00 per hour (DOE)

Scope:

3 Campuses (Main, Rossano, and Park Campuses are all on the same street)

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding parent, staff, financial, and operational information.

  • Oversee all facility improvements, security, repairs, and routine maintenance across three campuses (all on the same street) with four buildings.

  • Manage major renovation and capital projects—such as classroom renovations, roof replacements, landscaping, etc. —coordinating with contractors to deliver projects on time and on budget.

  • Respond promptly to internal campus repair requests and perform light handyman duties (e.g., replacing lightbulbs, basic repairs) as needed.

  • Source and manage vendor relationships, attend on-site service appointments, and conduct quality follow-ups.

  • Track vendor work for accuracy and promptly submit all receipts and invoices to the Operations Manager.

  • Ensure campus adherence to state and federal safety regulations and support emergency / disaster management planning.

  • Proficiently use Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, etc.) for communication, tracking, and scheduling.

  • Use the current Google Workspace Facility Drive to track, budget, and keep a record of facility work planned, in process, or completed.

  • Maintain availability outside standard school hours for large facility projects that would disrupt school operations, emergency facility responses, or urgent maintenance needs.

  • Attending weekly meetings

  • Back-up coverage for campus front desk - answering phones, taking messages if needed

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Associate’s Degree in Business, Facilities Management, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Project Management: Proven experience planning and overseeing multi-step capital projects (e.g., classroom renovations, roofing, landscaping) from vendor bidding to final inspection. Ability to follow established procedures, policies, and work standards while exercising sound judgment in day-to-day activities.

  • Handyman Skills: Practical, hands-on general maintenance and handyman experience for day-to-day repairs.

  • Organization & Records: Strong organizational skills with a meticulous and detail-oriented approach to recordkeeping, invoice tracking, and scheduling.

  • Teamwork & Flexibility: A reliable, collaborative team player with a flexible mindset and the ability to adapt to changing school needs.

  • Customer Service: Proven Customer Service experience, with a professional, responsible, and results-oriented attitude.

  • Communication Skills: Proven customer service experience, with a professional, responsive, and solutions-oriented approach to supporting administration, stakeholders, and vendors.

  • Legal Work Status: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Per our DCYF (Department of Children, Youth and Families) regulations regarding educators, we require that all employees complete a PBC (portable background check), fingerprinting, proof of MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) immunization and proof of a negative Tuberculosis skin test.
