Pay $20.36 - $23.63 / hour

Job Description
  • THE PRIMARY WORK LOCATION FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT IS AT THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY JAIL

Reporting directly to an assigned Supervisor or Director, responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on various systems and equipment. Work involves multiple skill areas including plumbing, electrical, irrigation, and carpentry. Level III of III.

  • Serves as General Maintenance Leader in the absence of Supervisor
  • Prioritizes Work Orders in accordance with established requirements
  • Leads projects and trains individuals to department standards and quality expectations
  • Responds to work order requests from Williamson County offices and departments
  • Installs and replaces electrical system components including light fixtures and ballasts
  • Clears sewer stoppages, water leaks, commercial and detention urinals, toilets, and sinks
  • Performs general carpentry duties such as wall framing, drywall repairs, and painting
  • Installs gas and electric water heaters
  • Operates a variety of motorized equipment and hand-held tools
  • Performs building maintenance and elevator inspections
  • Supports Preventative Maintenance improvements as ongoing continuous improvement
  • Cross-trains with staff in other areas to ensure continuity of departmental operations
  • Communicates with the office staff and county personnel on a regular basis
  • Performs on call duty on a rotational basis
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
  • Performs special duties as assigned

  • Position involves safely operating a motor vehicle
  • Position involves climbing ladders, carrying toolboxes, and operating hand and power tools

  • Position involves lifting a minimum of 50 pounds to waist height
  • Position involves seeing and hearing as well as perceiving colors
  • Position involves writing and reading to a size 10 font
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
  • Indoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weather
  • Regular travel between work sites
  • Work may be conducted in attics, crawl spaces and on rooftops
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus, and high noise levels
  • Contact with persons accused or convicted of crimes
  • Contact with law enforcement officials and public
IRREGULAR HOURS
  • Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.) may be required
  • Performs on call duty on a rotational basis
  • May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • One (1) year of demonstrated lead or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated skill in basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry
  • Prior experience operating hand and power tools and electrical test equipment
  • Basic computer skills such as email, word processing programs, and data entry
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment

  • Valid driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five (5) years of building maintenance experience
