Job summary

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is seeking a Custodian I in Building Services for the 3rd shift (10:30 PM–7:00 AM) under a work-study arrangement.

This on-campus role cleans offices, classrooms, and common areas, operates vacuums, carpet extractors, and floor buffers, and handles snow/ice removal; salary is $31,200 plus a 12% shift differential. Sponsorship is not available; applicants must be eligible for work-study.

Summary of Job Duties

The Custodian I is responsible for general cleaning of areas in and around office buildings, classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, auditoriums, building common areas, and other areas on campus as required. This will include vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, and emptying small office trash cans as well as large Brute trash cans. This position will also be responsible for using a carpet extractor and a floor buffer, cleaning commodes, sinks, water fountains, etc. This position will also be responsible for snow/ice removal during winter months. Other duties as assigned. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of custodial experience in the commercial/corporate industry

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques

• Ability to use cleansers and other agents to clean floors and furniture
• Ability to use housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment
