Job summary

The City of Greer is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker I to perform general maintenance and repairs within the Facilities Maintenance Department. The role involves basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction tasks, along with completing work orders and assisting outside contractors.

Hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential variation for weather or events. Benefits include health, vision, dental insurance, life, disability, leave, holidays, tuition

Qualifications

• High school or GED required.
• At least 1 year of labor work experience.
• OSHA10 or higher or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction.
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, construction and equipment repairs.
• Paint, plaster, and repair walls and doors as needed.
• Monitor and service A/C systems.
• Complete work orders in Cartegraph and other software.
• Assist in managing third-party contractor support.
• Drive and operate department vehicles and equipment with a valid license.
• Familiarize with city permitting procedures and coordinate contractor activities.
• Prepare and process records and reports as needed.
• Refer to manuals and regulations as required.
• Use various tools and equipment to perform duties.
• Interact with Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, City employees, and the public.
• Support other Facilities Maintenance and Custodial staff as needed.

Description

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Facilities Maintenance Worker I in our Facilities Maintenance Department.

Responsibilities:

• performs general building maintenance which involves electrical, plumbing, mechanical, construction and equipment repairs. Paints, plasters, and performs other needed repairs to walls, doors, etc. Monitors A/C and services as needed.
• Completes work orders in Cartegraph and other software on a regular basis and asks for help when tasks are too complicated, heavy/difficult or otherwise hard to handle.
• Assists in managing third party contractor support as needed or requested.
• Drives and operates department vehicles and equipment that require a driver's license. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as maintenance route lists, daily hour logs, and vehicle preventative maintenance checklist.
• Becomes familiar with established city permitting procedures and coordinating contractor activities at various locations within the city.
• Prepares and/or processes records and report as needed.
• Refers to equipment operator's manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, etc.
• Uses a variety of equipment and tools such as all hand and power tools, office equipment, lightweight trucks, shovels, rakes, and various other supplies in the performance of job duties.
• Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, other City employees, and the general public.
• Assists all other Facilities Maintenance and Custodial Workers on tasks as needed.

Salary: Minimum hourly rate $21.06; dependent on experience

Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, M-F; hours will vary at times due to weather, City festivals, etc.
