Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking Facilities / Maintenance Technicians at II or III level to support general upkeep, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting, grounds work, and moving furniture and equipment. You may work with outside contractors and perform routine machinery checks to ensure proper operation.

Roles offer growth across trades within a university setting. Technician II requires at least 1 year of related experience; Technician III requires 3+ years.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
  • Requires 1 year of related experience for Technician II.
  • Requires 3+ years of related experience for Technician III.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general maintenance and repairs including light carpentry, basic electrical, HVAC, painting, and grounds maintenance.
  • Arrange furniture and partitions; assist with internal moves and transport supplies/equipment.
  • Conduct routine checks on machinery to determine maintenance needs.
  • May work with specialized outside contractors; some tasks under moderate supervision.

This is an Intermediate Level position in the Support track.

May assist less-experienced team members.

This is a Skilled Level position in the Support track.
