Job summary

Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina seeks a Facility Maintenance Specialist to oversee general maintenance for all facilities. This temporary-to-permanent role offers a typical schedule of 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with potential full-time employment after 90 days.

Responsibilities include prioritized maintenance work, safe operation of equipment, and coordination with branch teams to ensure facilities remain in good working order.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; post-secondary education preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• At least one year as a facility specialist or technician in warehouse/office setting.
• Experience in plumbing, HVAC, or electrical preferred.
• NC Class C Driver’s License with clean driving record.
• Able to operate a scissor lift; forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
• Must believe in the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate organizational maintenance tasks using the Work Order tool and supervisor input.
• Identify and prioritize facility maintenance issues; work with leadership.
• Ensure safe operation of facilities and equipment.
• Coordinate with branch staff and Facilities Maintenance Manager on maintenance.
• Assist in vendor selection and obtain written estimates.
• Maintain powered tools and provide staff training as needed.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and SOPs; manage SDS documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
