Job Summary
The Facilities/Maintenance Technician ensures and supports the effective and efficient operations of Minnesota Independence College and Community's (MICC's) buildings and grounds in collaboration with the Operations Team with a focus on cleanliness, safety, and maintenance. Performs basic maintenance tasks including preventative maintenance and year-round groundskeeping duties. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment for all staff and participants and other stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work both independently and with the Operations Team to complete daily and assigned tasks
- Maintain cleanliness standards and guidelines to ensure a daily safe and clean environment in all common areas including classrooms, lounges, conference rooms, offices, kitchens, and bathrrooms
- Groundskeeping and lawncare, including mowing of courtyards and lawns, as well as fall and spring cleanup
- Basic handyman tasks, including furniture assembly, painting, updating key codes, minor repairs, and more
- Supporting MICC’s snow removal contractors by ensuring walkways and driveways remain free of ice and snow
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such windshield wiper and light bulb replacement
- Assist with vendor management for maintenance and repairs as needed
- Refill paper and cleaning products across campus as needed
- Assist and complete unique tasks when special events occur at MICC to meet the demands of each event
- Serve as a backup to others on the Operations Team for various operational tasks
- Maintain a flexible work schedule to support the demands of the organization
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- At minimum of 2-3 years' experience with hands-on general maintenance experience or equivalent· Previous experience in housekeeping preferred
- Degree or some education from a trade school is a plus

Physical Requirements
- Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, and stooping movements
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats, kneels, and reaches above or at shoulder level
- Ability to perform maintenance in harsh weather environments, including cold and heat
- Must have a current driver’s license with a clean driving record as determined by MICC's insurance company
