Job summary

New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston, MA is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Technician to support facilities operations.

You will perform light electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry tasks, paint interiors/exteriors, and assist with snow removal while maintaining safety and guest experience. The schedule is Sunday-Thursday with rotating on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years proven work experience in a maintenance or facility support position.
• Experience working with the public, customer service.
• Strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry as assigned by Facilities Manager.
• Perform routine maintenance to building and equipment per schedule.
• Exterior or interior painting or staining of walls, trim, doors, furniture or structures.
• Support snow removal operations under direction of Facilities Manager or Director of Horticulture.
• Notify Facilities Manager when repairs exceed in-house capability; contact vendor if needed.
• Respond to staff requests for maintenance or repairs, prioritizing safety.
• Provide guidance to outside vendors when applicable.
• Assist with custodial duties or setups during staffing issues when needed.
• Share on-call after-hours responsibilities on a rotating basis.
• Be welcoming to all staff and the public; respect staff differences and pronouns.
• Attend IDEA workshops and training sessions.
• Report safety concerns promptly and comply with policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
