Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a maintenance technician to plan and perform repairs across buildings, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and gym equipment. You will also manage pool chemistry, grounds, and vehicle maintenance while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for members.

Required are 3–5 years of building maintenance, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license; certification in trades is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 3–5 years of building maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC trades; certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read, write, and use a computer; strong project organization skills.
• Leadership with a passion for member service and a positive, service-oriented culture.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform maintenance projects (walls, doors, locks, windows, floors, stairs, carpets, tiles, plumbing, lighting, HVAC, fitness equipment).
• Coordinate projects with staff, ensure safe work site, and minimize member disruption.
• Maintain grounds, operate lawn/snow equipment as needed.
• Maintain pool filtration systems and daily chemical balance.
• Perform preventive maintenance on facility systems and keep records up to date.
• Inspect and maintain vehicles; perform routine maintenance and document results.
• Routinely assess facility safety, cleanliness, and functional systems; report issues.
