Job summary

RTX is seeking an onsite facilities mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, chilled water distribution, pumps, motors, and building automation controls in a large manufacturing site.

You will work a 12-hour night shift to support 24/7 operations and cover days/nights/weekends as needed, with opportunities to learn alongside senior mechanics and contractors.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or AA/AS or equivalent required with 4+ years relevant experience.
• Experience in HVAC, building automation, pumps, motors, valves or actuators, and refrigeration cycles.
• Ability to read blueprints/schematics and understand OSHA safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair infrastructure systems including HVAC and BAS controls.
• Operate on 12-hour shifts to support 24/7 site coverage from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
• Provide coverage for days/nights/weekends when required.

What You Will Do

• The position focus will be to maintain, troubleshoot and repair all infrastructure systems including HVAC, Chilled Water Distribution, pumps, motors, and frontend Building automation controls.
• In this role you need to perform as a first night shift compressed facilities mechanic supporting plant operations.
• This role requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts in order to cover the site 24/7 from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm.
• Provide coverage and support for the facility days/nights/weekends if business, schedule, or emergency situations arise.

What You Will Learn

• The hired applicant will learn how to manage facilities operations in a 2 Million square foot manufacturing building. They will gain technical experience working alongside senior mechanics and contractors. They will also learn to troubleshoot large infrastructure equipment and controls.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a HS Diploma or GED or AA/AS degree (or another 2 year post HS training) and 4 or more years of relevant experience
• 4+ years’ experience in (three or more) of the following areas:
  • HVAC and Building Automation Controls
  • Maintenance of pumps, motors, valve and actuator operation
  • Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
  • Refrigeration cycles
• 2+ years’ experience reading and interpreting blueprints and complex schematics as well as OSHA regulations and standards for Safe work practice, hazard assessment and mitigation.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Computer experience in the function and application of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as well as common office technology including MS office suite of software andother Web based tools.
• Experience in Electrical, VFD’s and motor controls and leading team members
• PLC controls troubleshooting
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts

• This is an onsite role qualified candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from the Chesapeake VA hub.

The salary range for this role is 43,400 USD - 82,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
