Job summary

Roof Above is seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician in Charlotte, NC. You will maintain facilities and equipment across Roof Above properties, perform minor repairs, and prepare vacant apartments for new tenants to ensure safe, functional living spaces.

The role requires 5+ years of maintenance experience on commercial and residential buildings, skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience performing maintenance on commercial and residential buildings.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Ability to use power tools and perform carpentry, painting, and plastering tasks.
• High school education or equivalent; some substitutions allowed.
• Must be flexible in addressing tenant concerns
• Task oriented - Proven experience in working autonomously in the absence of others or without Supervisor's direction.
• Team oriented - Experience working in groups and can treat others in a positive manner; must be able to communicate effectively with agency staff, facility staff and facility manager
• Customer oriented - good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute work orders in a timely fashion and report delays to supervisor
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance tasks as assigned by Facility Manager
• Execute electrical and plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installations
• Perform handyman work including painting, carpentry, and masonry
• Communicate site conditions and concerns to facility manager
• Communicate with staff and tenants on work order process
• Be willing to perform humble tasks as needed
• Be a positive support of Roof Above programs and staff
• Be good stewards of Roof Above property
• Participates in staff meetings and training
• Performs other major maintenance duties as directed by supervisor
• Perform other duties as assigned

POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently recruiting a FT Facilities Maintenance Technician with maintenance experience or training. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the maintenance of facilities & equipment of Roof Above Properties. Therefore, passion, respect, and an understanding that this job directly provides daily support for those served by our mission is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintenance of Facility and equipment
• Minor repairs of Facility and equipment
• Prepare vacant apartments for new tenants
• Completing preventative maintenance routines
• Execute work orders in a timely fashion and report any delays immediately to supervisor
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance tasks as assigned by Facility Manager
• Execute electrical and plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installations
• Perform handyman work functions to include painting, carpentry, and masonry work.
• Communicate to facility manager site conditions and concerns
• Communicate with staff and/or tenants on work order process
• Be willing, on occasion, to perform humble tasks as they relate to the nature of our work
• Be positive support of all Roof Above programs and staff
• Be good stewards of all Roof Above property
• Participates in staff meetings, training, and development activities as directed.
• Performs other major maintenance duties as directed by supervisor or leadership.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills Required

• At least 5+ years of experience performing maintenance on commercial and residential buildings
• Good understanding and ability to repair, install, and maintain HVAC, plumbing fundamentals and electrical systems and equipment
• Ability to work with power tools, and perform carpentry, paint, and plastering work
• High school education (or equivalent) preferred; must have basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Substantial relevant experience may be substituted for education
• Must be flexible in addressing tenant concerns
• Task oriented - Proven experience in working autonomously in the absence of others or without Supervisor's direction.
• Team oriented - Experience working in groups and can treat others in a positive manner; must be able to communicate effectively with agency staff, facility staff and facility manager
• Customer oriented - good customer service skills
• Basic computerdata entry, and mobile phone skills requiredfor time & attendancerelatedfunctions.
• Demonstrated ability to managetime and schedule requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skillsto interact with staffs & clients.
• ValidNorth Carolina driver's license.
